About the Process

We recommend starting the bridal process with a private appointment. We host in-person and virtual bridal appointments from our New York City showroom. The standard appointment consists of a consultation, corset fitting, and try-on of selected styles. All made-to-order bridal pieces carry a 24-week lead-time from the date of payment. We can accommodate shorter timelines, pending production possibilities with a rush fee. We also have an offering of in-stock pieces available for immediate shipment.

Our corset sizing program allows clients to see themselves in their perfectly fitted size of corset before placing an order. This greatly streamlines the alterations process, but some degree of alterations should always be expected – hemming skirt lengths, taking in or letting out, etc. While we do not offer in-house alterations, we can recommend specialists. Generally, bridal alterations will take 6-8 weeks, and should be booked at least 3 months in advance of the appointment. Please keep this in mind in addition to the garment lead-time when planning your calendar.

All Wiederhoeft pieces are crafted in New York City’s historic Garment District. The collection features finest fabrics from Italy, France, and the United Kingdom, with hand-embroideries from Mumbai.

Amendments to existing designs are subject to approval from our design team. Generally, we limit customizations in order to maintain the integrity of the original designs, which are carefully considered to ensure the success of silhouette and fabrication of each style. Cases where we can accommodate some customizations would include changes to fabric type or fabric color. We are not able to accommodate changes to the silhouette or construction of the garment, with the exception of custom work.

In our full-service custom development program, we work with clients to craft an exclusive design with limitless possibilities of fabric and silhouette - from research, to sketch, to fitting and completion.
